About 2 hours ago Musclenerd, member of the Dev Team, announced the release of the Mac and Windows versions of redsn0w 0.9 beta 3, so be careful, it's a beta version.
This is a continuation of the redsn0w project launched in the summer with OS 3.0 but which stopped working after 3.1 and is now only compatible with firmware 3.1.2. If you already have a jailbroken device, check with blackra1n, repeating the process with redsn0w is not necessary unless you want to change the boot logo, for example.
Unfortunately, unlike blackra1n, redsn0w DOES NOT WORK with phones with new bootrom, so blackra1n must still be used for those.
Here are the benefits of redsn0w 0.9 beta 3:
- jailbreak firmware 3,1.2;
- Customizing the bootlog, and the recovery logo: Given the problems caused by LogoMe, application, available on Cydia that allows you to change the logos boot / recovery after following the Jailbreak, the Dev-Team has thought well to implement this function in the new update Redsn0w.
- Ability to set the "verbose fashions";
Verbose mode causes the phone to display the complete list of processes it opens instead of the Apple logo when booting. It's absolutely useless, some say it would lead to a faster boot, but it's hard to believe.
You can download redsn0w 0.9 beta 3 from here: Mac, Windows.
I will do a tutorial on jailbreak with redsn0w in the next few hours, but the process is the same as with the old redsn0w.
