How much does it cost to manufacture an iPhone 4?

iPhone 4, the 16GB model, is sold in the world at prices ranging from $599 to $773, but in reality the manufacturing costs of such a terminal amount to $187.51 per unit, so 3 times less than the lowest price at which you can find it on the market. Over the years, the manufacturing costs of an iPhone have been around $180, and the iPhone 4 is no exception to the rule.

This low price is explained by the fact that Apple buys the components for the terminal in industrial quantities and thus obtains very good prices for each individual component. Here's how much Apple pays for some iPhone 4 components:

  • the LCD screen with Retina Display technology is the most expensive component - $28.50;
  • the second component in terms of value is the A4 chip, which takes $10.75 out of Apple's pocket;
  • the gyroscope $2.60;
  • accelerometer $0.65.

Of course, in addition to the costs of purchasing the components, we must also add those of marketing, assembly, distribution and perhaps the most important thing, the investment in software development. The main idea is that the iPhone 4 is produced at a price 3 times more reasonable than the one for which it is sold in the US because the prices in Europe are much higher.
