Tutorial: Jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 on iPhone 3G

It seems that iOS 4.0.1 can be jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.5 beta 5-5 which also works with iOS 4.0/4.1 beta. iPhone 3G users only and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC) i can use this version of redsn0w to jailbreak ios 4.0.1.

Step 3

Open redsn0w and press browse then open the downloaded firmware. CAREFUL!! the firmware should have the .ipsw extension. Use iOS 4.0 and NOT iOS 4.0.1!

Step 4

Press next and check the desired options there, including those for activating multitasking, wallpapers.

Step 5

Be careful if redsn0w asks you to put the phone in DFU mode and put the phone in DFU Mode using the tutorial here, then press next again.

Comex said that the baseband is not updated and can be decoded, but shortly after that he deleted his tweet, so for now we remain on the assumption that decoding is blocked in iOS 4.0.1.
