About jailbreak and decoding for iOS 4.1

Wednesday Apple a announced that iOS 4.1 will be available for iPhone/iPod Touch from next week, following that in November it will be released specifically for iPad and iOS 4.2 which will also be compatible with iPhone/iPod Touch. I know that with the release of iOS 4.1, many will be tempted to update and others will receive phones with iOS 4.1 already installed, so the purpose of this tutorial is to clarify your questions regarding the possibility of releasing jailbreak/decoding solutions for iOS 4.1. iOS 4.1 will bring a new baseband, so it will not only block the jailbreak solution but will also block the exploit used by ultrasn0w for decoding for all iPhone models.

Between iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2 there will be a difference of at least one month and three weeks, that is, a very short period of time in which the Dev Team or others should release 2 different jailbreak solutions for 2 different iOS versions. Unfortunately, I am quite convinced that the Dev Team will not release any jailbreak solution until after the release of iOS 4.2, because a release before that would mean trashing a perfectly valid jailbreak solution. iOS 4.1 will not be available for the iPad and this is an additional reason for the Dev Team to wait for iOS 4.2 because the jailbreak solution released for this latest version of iOS would also allow the jailbreak of the iPad tablet. If we are to take into account the trashing of a decoding solution, then it is more than certain that the following jailbreak and decoding solutions will be available at the earliest with the release of iOS 4.2.

I could offer all kinds of arguments to support the hypothesis of jailbreak/decoding solutions released after iOS 4.2, but I'm sure that many of you are already expecting this. In conclusion, do not update to iOS 4.1 unless you need decoding and only if you have SHSH to return to an older iOS version.
