What the Dev Team is preparing for us in the near future

We have a unlock solutionwe have jailbreak solution, so what is the Dev Team working on now? Considering that the unlock and jailbreak solutions available now are half done, the Dev Team is still working on an unlock solution for iPhone 4 (without specifying a specific date for its availability) and on an untethered jailbreak solution for those who they don't have an iPhone 3G/3GS (old bootrom) and they have to do a tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1.

The priority at the moment is the unlock solution for iPhone 4 that MuscleNerd and other members of the Dev Team are working on, but in parallel comex is trying to find an exploit that will make the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak untethered for all terminals. These solutions will most likely be available in December without knowing when exactly they will be launched because no one has mentioned anything in this regard.

In the background, MuscleNerd did not deny that it could exist an unlock solution for the 05.14.02 and 05.15.04 basebands, but it is unlikely that we will see something like this again in the near future.

  1. we must also take into account the fact how many people updated the baseband (ipad) and how many preferred to stay at 05.14.02 and wait for the "miracle of the unlock"! I tend to believe that they will no longer work on this solution, since they offered another one! And in addition, ios 4.3 is coming, which has a baseband update and needs to be worked on, right? 🙂 !

  2. That's the problem, if 4.3 will not have a baseband higher than 06.15.00 then there will be no need for another decoding solution than for iPhone 4 because the rest will not upgrade the baseband

  3. I'm interested in releasing a bundle 4.2.1 for the pwnage tool to upgrade the firmware but not the baseband! Because if 4.3 has a lower baseband than 06.15.00 and they are not working on a decoding solution, because maybe some people didn't "mistakenly update to 4.2/4.1", then what do they do? opposite situation 😀

  4. Children, wait, but wait in vain. Starting with iOS 4.2.1, apple started making baseband restrictions. That means you can no longer update iOS without a baseband update.

  5. @ marius: yes, that's how they want it to be, and my iPhone was initially unlocked because that's what Apple wanted, but, look, now I'm talking to him, that's what the dev team wanted...
The idea is that if apple wants something and does it, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will happen!!!

  6. @marius The Dev-Team has already released a 4.2.1 bundle for the old 3GS bootrom to switch to iOS 4.2.1 without a baseband update and a new version of PwnageTool is coming for the rest of the terminals.

The baseband restriction you are talking about affects iPhone 4 owners who try to update to iOS 4.2.1 without updating the baseband using TinyUmbrella.
