Tutorial: Jailbreak iOS 4.3 beta 1 with PwnageTool

A new version of PwnageTool has been published by a site italian and using this UNOFFICIAL version of the program you can make a custom ipsw for iOS 4.3. This version of PwnageTool allows jailbreak ONLY for iPhone 4 and uses the bootrom exploit discovered by geohot and implemented in iOS 4.1. Do NOT use this version of PwnageTool if you are NOT sure what you are doing! DO NOT hack iOS 4.3 beta 1 in any way!

You will have a tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3, so don't expect to be able to close the terminals without problems!

This version of PwnageTool will NOT keep your baseband intact! If you update to a custom ipsw made with this version of PwngeTool, you will have baseband 04.08.00 on your phone! It is not known which applications work now on iOS 4.3! It is possible to restore to a jailbroken custom ipsw and notice that NOTHING works!

I have not tested this version of PwnageTool! You do all the tests at your own risk!

UPDATE: It seems that this version of PwnageTool only has a modified file and does not work. When loading the custom ipsw, error 1601 is displayed.

Step 1

Download iOS 4.3 beta 1 from your developer account. Install the latest version of iTunes.

Step 2

Download the modified version of PwnageTool from here.

Step 3

Open PwnageTool, select expert mode and the iOS 4.3 firmware downloaded in step 1.

Step 4

Select the desired options through PwnageTool and press build. Enter your Mac's password when prompted and wait for the process to complete.

Step 5

Enter the terminal in DFU Mode. The experienced ones know the steps, the inexperienced ones should not even think of trying the tutorial.

Step 6

Open iTunes, and restore to the newly made custom ipsw.

Thank you Aquarius.
