PSP games could be ported to iOS as well

Last week Sony a submitted to the whole world Sony PlayStation 2 and together with it announced the launch of a gaming platform that could allow developers to port PSP games to iOS and Windows. PlayStation Suite is the name of the new platform and those from Sony I think serious about helping developers port PSP games to Android, for starters, but iOS and Windows are also being considered. Sony estimates that by the end of this year the first games for Android should appear, but they will only be available on smartphones (for a start) and probably through an emulator.

"There are a variety of OSes," said Hirai. "But we're focusing first on Android. There's also Windows, iOS and so forth, but we don't have the resources to make it compatible with everything from the start."

Porting these games to iOS would bring considerable income for those from Sony, but there is a small-big problem, Apple. It's hard to believe that the company from Cupertino will allow the installation of an emulator for games ported from the PSP. Sony will build a platform through which it will sell these games and the AppStore will not allow an application through which people can purchase content from another company's application store. The only way Sony could release games ported from the PSP to the AppStore would be by sharing the profit with Apple.
