New versions of Angry Birds available until summer

At the Game Developers Conference 2011 that is taking place this week in San Francisco, in a building located "across the road" from the Yerba Buena Center where the iPad 2 will be presented tomorrow, the CEO of Rovio, Peter Vesterbacka announced as fans of the Angry Birds series are in for some surprises. First of all, we are talking about a new version of Angry Birds Seasons specially made for St. Patrick's Day, which many Americans celebrate. The update will of course be made in the theme of the holiday, i.e. 4-leaf clovers, lots of green, etc. Besides this new version of Angry Birds Seasons we will have Angry Birds Rio made for the movie Rio plus an Angry Birds 2 that would be available in the summer.

We really have Apple to thank," said Vesterbacka - not just for helping to promote Angry Birds, but for creating the App Store to begin with.

"We got away from this carrier-dominated Soviet model," he explained - before the App Store, the carriers were responsible for figuring out what software would run on their phones. "Other people decided on our behalf what was a good game and what was a bad game," Vesterbacka said.

You won't have to wait too long," said Vesterbacka - Rovio plans to release new Angry Birds games this summer.

A lot of news is being prepared for the fans of the series and it will definitely be worth the wait. Angry Birds is turning into a real "money machine" for Rovio considering that now the company is involved in more and more partnerships.
