Siri could work on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 3G/4G

Steve Troughton-Smith, the man who made it happen to successfully port Siri to iPhone 4, claims that Apple's new personal assistant could work even on the iPod Touch 3G/4G or even on the iPhone 3GS. For now, he has not installed Siri on these devices, but theoretically porting is possible, but it remains to be seen if the hardware included in those devices is capable of running the new system without problems. The iPhone 4 has better hardware than the iPhone 3GS, and here we are not only talking about the processor, but also about the RAM, which has double the amount.

For now, no one is trying to offer a universal solution to install Siri on old iDevices because such a process would involve hacking the system designed by Apple and no developer wants to take the risk of being sued. As soon as a bootrom exploit for iPhone 4S is discovered, we will finally have a solution for installing Siri on iPhone 4/iPad 2 at first and probably for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch3G/4G later. The news is good for the owners of old terminals, it remains to be seen how quickly the respective solutions will be developed.
