200 million Android terminals activated to date, 550.000 activated daily

At the Google Music launch event Jamie Rosenberg, director of digital content for Android, stated that up to now more than 200 million Android terminals have been activated all over the world. The figure is double the one presented in May of this year and I have to admit that Android had a spectacular growth, thanks in part to the lack of a new iPhone model. Those from Google boast that they activate around 550.000 Android terminals daily, and this explains the doubling of the number of terminals activated up to now.

Apple boasts in October that it sold over 250 million iDevices, 50 million more, but it had a much smaller increase than Android, which doubled its user base in just 6 months. Probably in February/March, Apple will tell us that it has sold 300 million iDevices and Google will make almost the same announcement, it remains to be seen what consumers will prefer during the holidays. Apple cannot win the battle of "activations" against those from Google because there are too many models of Android terminals on the market.
