Dev Team is working on an unlock solution for iPhone 4S, recommend a downgrade to iOS 5.0.1

IERI (Yesterday) I told you that MuscleNerd announced on Twitter the fact that the new untethered jailbreak solution for iPhone 4S will also work with iOS 5 to give the owners of this terminal the opportunity to keep their baseband intact in order to launch a decoding solution. Today are that this jailbreak solution for iOS 5 will be available a day or two after the one for iOS 5.0.1 and that an unlock solution for iPhone 4S is in the works. The problem is that the Dev Team recommends iPhone 4S owners to restore to build 9A405 of iOS 5.0.1 if they have installed build 9A406 in the meantime. Build 9A405 of iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4S was released a few months ago in iTunes, but in December Apple released build 9A406 to solve some problems with SIM cards and probably to give the possibility to extract Siri for porting to old terminals.

MuscleNerd says that the 9A405 build has a different baseband from the 9A406 and that a possible unlock solution could come for that initial iPhone 4S build. If you need an iPhone 4S unlock, then MuscleNerd recommends that you install the 9A405 build of iOS 5.0.1 to be sure that the unlock solution will work with your device. Apple signs SHSHs for both builds of iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4S so you can revert to the old build 9A405 by download this ipsw and its use for restore. The procedure is simple, you just have to connect the iPhone to the computer, open iTunes, hold down the shift button (alt+o on Mac) while pressing Restore from iTunes, choose the downloaded ipsw and wait until it is finished the restore.

No one knows when the unlock solution will be available, but MuscleNerd says that the old build of iOS 5.0.1 has the best chance of being decoded.
