Although it seems hard to believe, until now over 300 million mobile terminals with Android OS operating system have been activated by Google. By comparison, Apple has sold over 315 million iDevices so far, so the difference is small and by the end of the year we will have more Android terminals sold. Andy Rubin, the father of Android, announced that 850.000 terminals are activated daily, the figure being enormous and if it is kept until the end of the year, then it would add another 250-300 million Android terminals to the existing ones.
Although the activation and sales figures are impressive, less impressive is the fact that only 12 million Android tablets have been sold to date. We are talking about more than a year in which all kinds of Android tablets were launched on the market and the figure is lower than that recorded by Apple in a single fiscal quarter. Unfortunately, this says a lot about how good/popular Android tablets are at the moment.
