iCab Mobile update is available in the App Store, it improves the upload function from iDevices

iCab Mobile is one of the best browsers available in the App Store, and one of the first applications purchased by me. With its help you can download any kind of files from the web, you can upload files to websites, you can view desktop versions of websites, you can use gestures to open new pages, return to old ones, or switch from a page on the other, the browser offering an extremely good functionality. Because everything they offered until now was not enough, the people from iCab decided to launch an update that brings:

  • The file upload feature is now far more reliable and works with many more web pages than before. In case the "file select" button of a web page is disabled (this can happen if a page adds this button later), just tap-and-hold your finger on it and it will be enabled. Please note that there can still be a few web pages left, where the file upload is not working, most likely because these pages are doing certain things, which don't work on the iOS platform.
  • In the file select panel for the file upload feature, you can now also define the maximum size and format for photos you select from the photo album. In case you want to change the maximum size, please configure it before selecting the photo.
  • iCab Mobile now has its own Proxy setting (iOS 5 and later). This can be used if you need to use a certain proxy for a certain use case but you can't or don't like to use the system wide proxy setting of the iOS. If the iCab proxy setting is enabled, then iCab uses this proxy for the requests. If the iCab proxy setting is switched off, then iCab uses the standard proxy setting of the iOS, just like before.
  • All the module icons were redesigned and now also include icons for the Retina resolution.
  • New "Delete all" button in the download manager was added.
  • iCab can now open the "webloc" files of the MacOS when moving them to the downloads manager.
  • The settings to enable/disable the features "Pull down to refresh" and "Pull left/right to switch Tabs" were now moved into the in-app settings.
  • Fixed a crash when doing a search while all search engines were deleted.
  • Fixes the "Pocket" module.
  • Fixes an issue with JavaScript URLs which could not be copied to the clipboard from within the contextual menu.
  • Fixes an issue when switching between a Japanese or Chinese keyboard to another keyboard on the iPhone when entering a search term.
  • Fixes an issue with selecting text in frame pages.

Looking at the list of updates, I can say that the option to upload images to websites is by far one of the most important functions of the browser, but unfortunately it does not work with all web pages. iCab Mobile is available in a universal version in the App Store and works on iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.
