Auto.ro is one of the largest Romanian websites with announcements about sales/purchases of new or second-hand cars. The website also had an application in the App Store, but the user experience offered by it was greatly improved recently when version 2.0 was officially launched. Through the new version of the application, users have much faster access to essential information for them, and here I'm talking not only about the buy/sell ads, but also about a suite of points of interest that will help you find the locations you need to get to more easily.
Auto.ro 2.0 is a complex application, an application that for a driver can prove to be the best friend because it offers you the opportunity to use your iDevice to quickly find out important information that I will talk about in the following. If you are only interested in seeing how the application works, in the video clip above I went through the most important sections of the Auto.ro application and I recommend that you watch it to get an idea about the package of options you have at your service.
Returning to the application, right from the moment you open it, you have in front of you the entire range of sections through which you can obtain information extracted from the Auto.ro database. The whole experience is centered around your location, more precisely most sections will display information about points of interest based on the location of the iDevice, and the direction to the respective points of interest is done with the help of the Maps application. Basically, those at Auto.ro give you the option to search Gas stations, Vulcanizers, Car washes, Taxi agencies, Parking lots, Car services, ITP points, auto parts stores, locations where car dismantling is done, Rent a Car agencies, roadside assistance and towing locations, accident detection centers and driving schools. Each of these points of interest is manually added by the people from Auto.ro, and checked at regular time intervals, so you can be sure that they are in the location indicated on the map.
Auto Services
By accessing one of these sections, you will have displayed all the points of interest around your location, and with the help of a button in the upper right part of the application, you can extend the POI search range from 10 to 200 KM. As soon as you have found a point of interest that is at an acceptable distance from you, access it and you will have displayed a menu in which you have a short description of the location, you have a phone number available and at the end you have the option Ruta which will open the Maps application and automatically calculate the route to that application. All the sections I mentioned previously work in exactly the same way and, from my point of view, a driver has at hand the simplest method to quickly find a car service, a vulcanization or a towing center when he really needs it. For pedestrians there is the option of looking for a Rent a Car service or a Taxi, so no matter what you are there is something for you. Finally, I will tell you that any of the locations can be marked as a favorite using the button Favourite located in the upper right part of the screen, the locations being then available in the section Favorite Locations of the central menu.
Car Search and Maximum Price
Leaving the POIs behind, we move on to the sections Search Auto si Maximum price which allow you to search among the more than 30.000 ads on the website Auto.ro. In these sections you have at your disposal a whole suite of filters that give you the opportunity to quickly and easily search for the ads you are interested in. After completing the filters and pressing the search buttons, you will be shown lists of all the ads that match your selection. In the section Maximum price you can only display cars that are available for a maximum price, and in the section Search Auto you have the option to choose exactly which car model you want to buy, what specifications it should have, etc.
After all the ads are displayed, select the one you want and you will be greeted by an interface similar to the one for Locations, only here you have a detailed description of the car, some pictures, the option to save the article to view it later , the option to contact the owner by phone or email and finally the option to share the article on Facebook, by SMS or by email. If you want to see the images in fullscreen mode, then simply rotate the iDevice and the images will be displayed on the entire screen.
Add Location and Add Ad
Moving on, we reach the two buttons on the upper part of the application: Add Location si Add Announcement. The first is made especially for those who own shops or other points of interest, this option giving them the opportunity to add their company to the list offered by the application. The second option is dedicated to drivers who want to buy/sell a car, the application providing them with an extremely detailed set of options for entering the most accurate information about the car they are putting up for sale.
Both sections are extremely useful, but the information sent by you passes through the Auto.ro filter before reaching the application, so you must fill them in very carefully.
Promotions
Finally we have the section Promotions which is accessible from the top left of the screen, and through it you can find out what promotions the stores near you have. This section is only available in certain cities, but those from Auto.ro say that they will expand it throughout the country as they manage to cooperate with the owners of the points of interest. The entire section is designed in a similar way to the one for Locations, you having at your disposal detailed information about the promotion, the store that organizes it, plus a phone number and the option to calculate a route to the respective store.
This is the Auto.ro application, an extremely complex application that provides a lot of information and I strongly believe that every driver or pedestrian should have it installed in their terminal. The Auto.ro application is available for free for iPhone/iPod in the App Store, it does not natively work on the iPad, but you can run it in 2x modes without problems. Whether you are a driver or a pedestrian, the Auto.ro application has the necessary information for you and I recommend that you at least try it because you will surely be satisfied.
