HP Envy x2, Samsung ATIV Smart PC/Smart PC PRO and Tab - new tablets running Windows 8 (Video)

  Last night HP and Samsung launched a suite of tablets that pretend to be laptops, and allow users to use a keyboard-dock to control Windows 8 from them. HP Envy x2, Samsung ATIV Smart PCSamsung ATIV Smart PC PRO si Samsung ATIV Tab are the names of all the products, and in the case of Samsung everything is as confusing as possible. Basically we are talking about tablets that run Windows 8, ATIV Tab being the only one that runs Windows RT.

  Regarding the specifications, here is information for each one separately:

  • Samsung ATIV Tab: 4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S1.5 processor, 2 GB RAM, 8200 mAh battery, 10.1-inch screen, 8.9 mm thickness and probable resolution of 1,366 x 768 – Windows RT;
  • Samsung ATIV Smart PC: Intel Atom processor, 13.5 hours of autonomy, 11.6-inch screen, 9.9 mm thickness and 1,366 x 768 resolution – Windows 8;
  • Samsung ATIV Smart PC PRO: Intel Core i5 processor, 8 hours autonomy, 11.6 inch screen, 11.9 mm thickness and 1,366 x 768 resolution – Windows 8;
  • HP Envy x2: Intel Atom Clover Trail processor, 11-inch screen, and 1,366 x 768 resolution – Windows 8.

  All tablets come with a dock that is represented by a keyboard with a touchpad, the keyboard similar to that of the MacBook Air, which in most cases doubles the battery autonomy and allows users to use the tablet in a way similar to the one in which they use a pc. I don't know how popular this kind of tablets will prove to be, but it's good to see them on the market. That's about it from the hardware point of view, now I'll leave you in the company of some hands-on.
