iPad Mini could only be available in a version compatible with Wi-Fi networks

Contributing to existing rumors about iPad MiniThose from The Telegraph claims that the future iPad Mini tablet will only be available in a version compatible with Wi-Fi networks, and a GSM/CDMA version would not be produced by Apple. Although we have so far seen prototypes of the tablet that had a Nano SIM for mobile connectivity, the British say otherwise. Apart from this modification, the British claim that the iPad 3 will be updated to be compatible with the new 4G network in Great Britain, and will have a Lightning dock, the change being a hardware one, Apple theoretically planning to update the internal components of the tablet.

Apple's expected "iPad mini" will only come in a Wi-Fi version - but there will also be a revised version of the iPad with 4G connectivity compatible with the UK's Everything Everywhere network, and sporting the new "Lightning" connector, industry sources have told the Guardian. Multiple sources contacted by the Guardian have indicated that they think the announcement of the "iPad mini" is imminent, with retail sources saying that they anticipate new products in November.

Yesterday I told you that Apple has made an important change to the design of the iPad Mini tablet and it could be about giving up this 3G/4G connectivity, but for Apple it would be a new move, at least in terms of the new iPad models. Although Apple could sell the iPad Mini tablet at a competitive price without this connectivity, its existence would have offered an important plus to the company's product, considering that the Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire HD, the direct competitors, do not have such functionality.

Even if the information about the Wi-Fi Only version of the iPad Mini is true, I don't think that Apple will release a new version of the iPad 3 just 4-5 months before the release of the iPad 4, so that information is probably valid for the Wi-Fi Only version of iPad 3 which will remain on sale after the launch of iPad 4.
