Orange Romania announces the financial results for the first quarter of 2013

  During this morning Orange Romania announced financial results for the first fiscal quarter of 2013, the operator registering a decrease of 1.4% in total revenues. The revenues generated by mobile services registered an increase of 1.3% compared to the same period last year, the number of customers reaching 10.214.262 customers, approximately 127.000 more than at the end of March 2012. Internet traffic made by the terminals mobile increased by 92% compared to Q1 2012, and smartphone sales registered a 176% increase compared to the same period last year.

  In practice, Romania is finally seeing an explosion in the adoption of mobile terminals and in terms of information consumption through mobile data networks, operators having to adjust their offers to give customers the opportunity to have more internet traffic at affordable prices as small as possible. Bucharest, April 24, 2013. The France Telecom-Orange group announces today the financial results for the first quarter of 2013, valid as of March 31.

In the first three months of this year, Orange Romania obtained revenues worth 219 million, down 1,4% compared to the same period last year, on a comparable basis. Eliminating the impact of regulatory measures, the revenues from mobile services of Orange Romania recorded I believe itș1,3% in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the same period of the previous year, an increase that confirms the positive evolution from 2012 supported by commercial performance. On March 31, 2013, Orange Romania had 10.214.262 customers, with approx 127.000 more than at the end of March 2012.

In the first quarter of 2013, mobile internet traffic grew by 92% compared to the first quarter of 2012. This strong evolution was supported by the sales of phones in the range smartphonewith 176% higher in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. Also, the expansion of the product portfolio and the launch of the star smartphone range, which includes the best performing phones, most of them compatible with HD Voice and 4G technologies, increased the adoption of mobile internet among customers.

In order to offer customers access to the latest generation technology that brings the experience of using the mobile internet to a higher level, Orange developed the 4G service and currently offers access to the mobile internet at 4G speeds on modems, tablets and smartphones.
