Cases for iPhone are made available by ING at the time of signing a contract for ING Pay, but only iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S are compatible with it. After generating the account and mounting the case, you will have to download an application from the App Store to be able to make payments, those from ING having partnerships with some large hypermarket chains, but also with many local merchants, most of the payment locations being in Bucharest.

The application compatible with ING Pay makes the connection between your iPhone and your ING account, and payments can be made in two ways. The first method allows you to pay up to 100 RON at merchants without entering the card's PIN, following that it must be entered for larger payments, and the second method requires entering the PIN for any payment, which is somewhat safer . ING Pay has a connection price of 95 RON and an annual subscription of 95 RON, so it is not dedicated to those who are not willing to use their terminals to make payments.

ING Pay works thanks to a collaboration with VISA and Oberthur Romania, and you will know that you can use this system if the POS where you want to pay will see the VISA Paywave logo.

ING Pay is now available in ING banks and there you will find the list of all the providers where you can pay using this system.

ING Bank is expanding its mobile banking services

The ING Pay service has all the advantages of a contactless payment at the POS, bringing more flexibility and innovation, fast payments being made with the help of the smartphone. Composed of a native application available in GooglePlay or AppStore and a built-in micro-SD card operated by VISA, the ING Pay solution opens the way to the payment methods of the future.

ING Pay it can be customized according to each user's preferences and replaces cash or card at merchants, allowing fast payments to be made in just a few seconds. For speed, users can choose to enter the PIN only for payments greater than 100 RON, in which case the transaction is also completed contactless. The application also offers the option of using the PIN code, for all transactions, regardless of their value.

"By launching the ING Pay service and contactless cards, ING is taking another step towards the future, offering its customers innovative and easy-to-use payment solutions. With ING Pay, ING's focus on e-banking services crosses the PC/laptop/tablet internet barrier and moves towards the mobile market, a market that has been on an upward trend in recent years." said Maria Cristina Matei, Head of ING Retail Banking.

Contactless payments with the phone can be made in the country and abroad, wherever the VISA PayWave logo appears at the cash register (supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants, cinemas, pharmacies, etc.). ING Pay is available for the following phones (with internet connection): iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S (I9000), Samsung Galaxy S Plus (I9001), Samsung Galaxy S II (I9100), Samsung Galaxy S II Plus ( I9105), Samsung Galaxy S III (I9300), Samsung Galaxy S4 (I9505), Samsung Galaxy Note II (N7100).

ING Pay was launched as a result of the collaboration between ING Bank, VISA Europe and Oberthur Technologies Romania. This new service continues the series of ING Bank innovations in the field of payments. In the first half of 2013, ING Bank launched contactless Visa and Mastercard cards which, in addition to the usual functionalities of a debit card, allow payments to be made just by passing in front of the contactless POS terminal. Thus, contactless payments shorten the waiting time and increase the speed of transactions at merchants.

In order to understand how we spend, save, invest and how quickly we adapt to new trends - such as mobile banking services, ING Bank published the results of the last IIS study*- "Financial Empowerment in the Digital Age", which provides relevant information on the mobile banking market, contactless technology and the way users relate to online payment methods.

According to the study, 37% of Europeans use mobile banking and control their money on the go, and 62% of them pay their bills on time more often thanks to this service. Among the European countries, the Netherlands is the country with the largest number of mobile banking users. Turkey is the future hotspot for these services and the Poles are the ones who most often use the mobile banking service for shopping. There are several reasons why some Europeans do not yet use mobile banking: the lack of a smartphone or tablet (37%), fears about the security of these solutions (33%) or the belief that mobile banking services do not offer them something they cannot obtain through traditional methods of interaction with the bank (11%).

Regarding the results for Romania, over 32% of the Romanian internet users interviewed answered that they use mobile banking services, which means that the adoption of this service in Romania is close to countries such as France (25%) or Belgium (26% ).

*ING International Survey (IIS) represents a series of studies carried out by different research agencies for ING Bank. Conducted internationally (in 12 European countries, Australia, Canada and the United States) the studies address financial issues that affect the daily lives of individuals around the world and try to identify common trends and cultural differences from one country to another.
