iOS 9 – the change announced by an Apple partner

iOS 8 Spotlight

iOS 9 is the future version of the operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), intending to launch it officially this fall, after a beta testing period to be announced in June. Although we know very little about what's new in iOS 9, today the CEO of one of Apple's partners announced a novelty that the American company intends to offer us in the fall.

I'm talking about the CEO Twitter which announced Today, as in future versions of iOS, the Spotlight system will also display tweets for searches made by users in their own iDevices/Macs. Dick Costolo, the CEO of Twitter, stated that tweets by various people of Twitter and other content published in the famous micro-blogging network will be visible in the Spotlight system, but for now we do not know exactly how.

And finally, we are also working with Apple to surface great Twitter content and accounts directly in Spotlight Search on iOS and OS X, which also makes it easier and quicker to find great things on Twitter. So I would sum up by saying, there is absolutely an opportunity to go and monetize that attention and traffic. We want to make sure we iterate on the experiences to get them right first.

The information was provided during the meeting for the presentation of Twitter's financial results for Q1 2015 and comes without Apple providing any detail regarding this possible implementation. However, if Twitter's CEO announces it now, there's a very good chance it will be available starting iOS 9, otherwise there would be no point in mentioning its availability.

Considering that Apple will release the first beta version of iOS 9 on June 8, when he will also hold the opening keynote of WWDC 2015, then we will probably find out whether the tweets will be displayed on Twitter or not, the function being mainly useful for the USA and other countries where Twitter is popular.
