Blackberry plans to launch an Android smartphone

BlackBerry AndroidBlackberry intends to launch a smartphone equipped with Google's Android operating system, the Canadian company trying in this way to attract new customers worldwide.

Those from Blackberry would try to bring to the market a smartphone with the new operating system following the failed attempt to win new customers with the smartphones launched last year, the sales generated by them being far below expectations.

Considering that Blackberry smartphones are no longer in the attention of regular users for some time, the Canadian company is trying to focus its attention on the development of software for mobile terminals and their administration.

The sources, who asked not to be named as they have not been authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said the move to use Android is part of BlackBerry's strategy to pivot to focus on software and device management. BlackBerry, which once dominated smartphone sales, now has a market share of less than 1 percent.

Considering that Blackberry is a company recognized for the security of its software, the implementation of Android terminals would most likely question the continued sale to government agencies around the world.

We all know that Android is not one of the most secure operating systems for mobile terminals and it will be very interesting to see how Google could manage to secure it to keep its important customers.

If Blackberry succeeds in this and launches a smartphone with the Android operating system, then it has a very high chance of regaining a good part of the market share lost to Apple or Samsung.
