Apple could be accused of helping terrorists with iOS 8

Activation Lock iOSApple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), she risks being accused of helping terrorists from all over the world with iOS 8 and its data encryption system, or at least that's what a legal expert who analyzed how the authorities view this system tells us.

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), si Google have been repeatedly criticized by the American authorities, and not only, because of the data encryption system implemented in iOS 8, they claim that they cannot access the data from the terminals seized following the arrests made in various areas around the globe.

According to this expert, the Apple company would violate the American legislation that is the basis of the fight against terrorism, its system for encrypting the data from the terminals and the data transfer between the terminals and its servers, interception being apparently impossible.

Although the NSA managed to intercept the data sent by Apple terminals to the company's servers and a jailbreak solution now allows the exploitation of the devices without problems, the expert claims that Apple could still be sued based on the security system of iOS 8.

The bottom line, as we shall explain, is that Apple may have more serious potential exposure under this theory of liability than in a negligence tort. The reason is surprising: In the facts we considered in our previous post, a court might—believe it or not—consider Apple as having violated the criminal prohibition against material support for terrorism.

Both Apple and Google could be brought before a judge to be forced to give the authorities around the world access to the keys for decrypting the data transferred through its terminals and servers, but for now everything is just a simple theory.

Considering that Apple and Google have enough money to fight in the courts with any authorities of any state, it is unlikely that we will witness a trial of this kind, but if you want to know more details, you can find them at on the legal expert's blog.
