Apple Watch detects objects around you

Apple Watch object detectionApple Watch is starting to become an extremely interesting gadget for users from all over the world, and those from Disney they thought the product Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), can offer an additional functionality hard to imagine until now.

More precisely, in the video clip below you will see that Apple Watch is used to detect the objects around us, the basis of this technology is the smart watch's ability to recognize the electromagnetic signals emitted by these objects.

To help Apple Watch to receive and interpret electromagnetic signals, the researchers from Disney used a chip of only $10 that can be installed in any smartwatch, the system developed by them being called EM-Sense, he transforming a body into an antenna capable of reading electromagnetic signals.

Although EM-Sense it is able to detect electronic objects without problems, even simple objects can be recognized using Apple Watch, the condition being that that object is a somewhat good conductor of electricity, otherwise the whole process will not work in any way.

As you can see in the video clip above, EM-Sense it can very easily recognize the objects that the owner of an Apple Watch touches, so it can be of immense use to blind people who would immediately know what they are touching.

[Most electronic devices] have EM signatures, but for passive objects like steel ladders—which are conductive—they pick up EM signals from their immediate environment, like fluorescent lights or power lines. Meanwhile, non-conductive objects like pens and plastic chairs are not capable of generating EM signals.

Considering that everything is currently presented in the form of a prototype, it remains to be seen how long it will take until this technology can become truly useful in the real world.
