Blackberry is not giving up on Blackberry 10 yet

Blackberry is giving up Blackberry 10Blackberry is not giving up on Blackberry 10 yet and this despite the fact that last week the CEO of the Canadian company announced that in 2016 we will see two new Blackberry smartphones that will run the Android operating system developed by Google.

This statement generated a lot of questions for analysts and investors, many thinking that Blackberry would intend to abandon Blackberry 10 to focus on the Android platform which has good results, according to the CEO of the Canadians.

To reassure everyone, the Blackberry CEO announced during this day that in 2016 Blackberry 10.3.3 and Blackberry 10.3.4 will be released, both versions will improve the security of the terminals and make them good enough to be used in government agencies.

Beyond 2016, no one knows what Blackberry intends to do with the terminals running the Blackberry 10 operating system, but it would not be excluded that in the future they will only receive security updates, without new functions offered by the Canadian company.

While we continue to invest in BlackBerry 10 in 2016, we will also develop another Android-based phone. We'll share more details about our roadmap when we're ready.

Blackberry and Microsoft are the only companies that have their own operating systems for smartphones and have a relatively decent market share for them, but if Blackberry gives up its own operating system in favor of Android, then probably in a few years iOS and Android will remain the only operating systems for mobile terminals.
