Sharp will be bought by Foxconn

A few weeks ago Foxconn made an offer of 6.2 billion dollars for the needleholds the majority stake in the Sharp company, and today a publication from Japan claims that the shareholders would have accepted the proposal from the Taiwanese.

Accepting the offer from Foxconn, Sharp refused an offer made by the Japanese government aimed at preventing the sale of the company to the Taiwanese, those from Foxconn offering a much higher amount of money than the local competitors, and their offer was the winner.

In recent years Sharp has repeatedly tried to avoid bankruptcy and although its main factory is dedicated only to the production of screens for iDevices, in the end the Japanese did not manage to produce enough profit to keep their company away from bankruptcy.

Apple invested 1 billion dollars in the Sharp factory which is exclusively dedicated to him and it is even speculated that Foxconn would have made the offer of 6.2 billion dollars together with Apple to control Sharp, but for now there is no credible information to support the theory.

Sharp's board on Thursday morning decided to accept a roughly 700 billion yen ($6.2 billion) takeover offer from Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry. Sharp had made a choice between Hon Hai's takeover bid and support from the Innovation Network Corp. of Japan, a state-backed fund. The fund offered Sharp a 300 billion yen injection as well as a 200 billion yen credit line.

The acquisition of Sharp will turn Foxconn into a much more important partner for the Apple company, the Taiwanese will take care not only of the assembly of iDevices, but also of the production of the screens that will be used in this process.
