The iPhone's market share has fallen in important areas around the globe

iPhones did not have a very good end of 2015 or beginning of 2016, those from Kantar stating that Apple's iOS registered decreases in market shares in important areas around the world, and those from Cupertino have prepared investors for this.

According to Kantar, the iPhone market share decreased by 0.5% in the USA compared to the period December - March 2015, the decrease being 3.2% in China and 1.8% in the most important 5 countries in Europe, Australia and Japan registering increases of 0.3 % and respectively 0.4%.

In contrast, Android's market share increased in all monitored geographical areas, Western Europe being the region where smartphones with this operating system sold best during this period, iOS, Windows Phone and Blackberry being the main ones losers.

Without giving sales figures in each region separately, these statistics tell us that Android smartphones are becoming more and more attractive, especially since the monitoring also covers the month of December when many terminals were bought for Christmas.

For the first time since August 2014, iOS share did not grow in urban China in the 3 months ending February. OS declined 3.2 percentage points between February 2015 and February 2016. Huawei was able to recapture the top spot on the Smartphone brand leader board, capturing 24.4% of Smartphones sold in urban China, just ahead of Apple's 22.2%.

Apple is based in iPhone SE and the popularity of the product in developing markets, but unlike the USA where the terminal is sold for 400 dollars, in those regions the price is even higher than 500 euros, so the terminal is not so cheap anymore.

Now we see for the first time how big the problem is for those from Apple and we can expect that at the end of this month those from Cupertino will announce a substantial drop in iPhone sales for Q1 2016.
