Waze will launch a taxi service for ordinary people

Waze is testing a passenger transport service that will compete with Uber.

Waze is one of the most popular guided navigation applications because it provides real-time information on traffic conditions, along with warnings for various incidents that exist on travel routes.

The company behind Waze has announced the testing of a new application called Waze Rider, it being distributed to a number of 25.000 employees in the San Francisco area, who can use it to be transported wherever they want.

The application has over 700.000 registered drivers, but we are talking about normal people who travel by car in various directions, the application notifying them that they could take a passenger on their trip, the latter paying 54 cents per kilometer of travel.

Practically, the application makes a pairing between a person who has generated a route to go in a certain direction and one who needs to reach a certain location, the service not being one of actual taximetry because the carrier is heading towards a certain location, he was not specifically called to go there.

Company employees use the new Waze Rider App to find a Waze driver already heading in the same direction. Meanwhile, drivers (everyday Wazers) use the Waze App to give rides. Coordination, communication and payment are automatically handled through the apps.

From the 54 cents per kilometer paid by the passenger or passengers, Waze will not retain any amount, so the drivers will collect all the money, and so far a variety of companies are testing the platform, including Google, the parent company of Waze .

Basically, Waze helps drivers earn money from their rides on occasion made in the San Francisco area and at the global level, such a system could bring serious amounts of money to many people, but it could also significantly reduce taxi service rates.
