How to activate Wi-Fi calling on iPhone in Orange

Yesterday Orange launched 4G calls for iPhones in Romania, many months away from the launch for Korean Samsung terminals, so now you can make 4G calls from your terminals without going back to 3G when you are called.

I told you yesterday how to activate 4G call on iPhone in Orange and today I told you which iPhones are compatible with 4G calls in Orange, but separated from this function, yesterday Orange has launched Wi-Fi calling for the iPhone, but the function does not have full support for now.

More precisely, even if Orange allows the activation of the Wi-Fi call function on our iPhone terminals, unfortunately the setting for its activation in iOS is not present, the operator avoiding updating the list of terminals compatible with its service, although it did so in the case of calls 4G.

Activate Wi-Fi calling on the iPhone in Orange

To activate Wi-Fi calling on the iPhone in Orange you must:

  • Activate 4G call first;
  • Wait for confirmation of the activation of that service.
  • Send an empty SMS to 232 and wait for service confirmation.

THE WI-FI CALL SERVICE HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. NOW YOU CAN MAKE CALLS OVER WI-FI CONNECTION, EVEN IF YOU HAVE NO SIGNAL ON YOUR PHONE, USING YOUR PHONE NUMBER. CLOSE AND REOPEN THE PHONE, THEN ACTIVATE THE WI-FI CALL FUNCTION FROM THE SETTINGS, AFTER YOU HAVE ENSURED THAT YOU HAVE UPDATED TO THE LATEST AVAILABLE SOFTWARE. THE CALL WILL USE THE MINUTES INCLUDED IN YOUR OFFER, AND THE ADDITIONAL RATE IS THE STANDARD FOR VOICE CALLS, CORRESPONDING TO YOUR TARIFF PLAN.

After confirming the activation of the Wi-Fi call function, which will come, theoretically we should see in Settings > Phone, Configurations > Phone, a sub-menu called Wi-Fi Calling, normally allowing the activation of Wi-Fi call services on the terminals iPhone.

What you see in the image above you will not find for the time being in your active iPhone terminals in the Orange network because the Wi-Fi call function is not activated for now, Orange will probably activate it in the next period.

The Wi-Fi call function on the iPhone allows you to make phone calls through the Orange mobile network even when you have a very weak GSM signal or no GSM signal, the minutes spoken being consumed from your subscription.

Unlike VoIP calls offered by applications such as WhatsApp Messenger, Facebook Messenger or even FaceTime, Wi-Fi calls allow you to call over Wi-Fi using your Orange phone number, so you can call any other phone numbers from any other networks national or international, fixed or mobile.
