iPhone 7 – TSMC will spend $2.2 billion to produce the new A10 chip

iPhone 7 si 7 iPhone Plus will be launched this year by the Apple company, and some of its partners will have to make massive investments to be able to honor their obligations to the Americans, those from TSMC being among the companies that will spend money to win others.

According to some Asian analysts, TSMC will spend no less than 2.2 billion dollars this year to be able to honor Apple's orders to manufacture the new A10 and A10X chips that will end up in a variety of iDevices, the amount being enormous

Those at TSMC invest large sums of money in the development of 7nm manufacturing processes for chips dedicated to their own partners, considering that the 10nm manufacturing process is completed and will be used for Apple's A10 chip.

The new technologies developed by TSMC must be integrated in the various Taiwanese factories, and this is part of the investment plan for this year because not all factories will be able to produce new chips for Apple.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) expects to boost its R&D spending to a record US$2.2 billion in 2016. As for 10nm, TSMC is scheduled to move the node technology to volume production by 2017, Liu indicated. TSMC will manufacture 10nm chips at the Phase-5 and 6 facilities at Fab 15, the foundry's 12-inch wafer fab in central Taiwan.

According to the latest available information, those from TSMC will manufacture most of the A10 and A10X chips for Apple this year, Samsung will receive the rest of the percentage of the total orders, the Koreans will have a much reduced performance.

Apple relies on TSMC to deliver better components than Samsung, and the Taiwanese invest large sums of money to fulfill their obligation, earning much more than they invest now.
