Hummer – the Android trojan that generates hundreds of thousands of dollars a day

Hummer is not only the name of the famous American SUV that you have seen many times including in Romania, but also of a Trojan for the platform Android, infecting millions of terminals daily and generating millions upon millions of dollars for the hackers who created it with the idea of making money from the naivety of users.

The Hummer trojan is a very complex one, because it obtains administrator access to the Android operating system, after infection, and installs various applications in the users' devices, these actions generate money for the hackers and we are talking about very large amounts that they earn as a result the software.

A company specialized in computer security called Cheetah Mobile Security Research Lab claims that every time Hummer infects an Android terminal and starts installing applications, the hackers earn $0.50 per terminal, the Trojan infecting 1-1.4 million Android terminals DAILY .

With such an infection rate, Hummer generates up to 500.000 dollars daily for the hackers who created the software, the amount being a colossal one if we think that we are talking about one that accumulates every day and not monthly or yearly, so the hackers the Chinese who created it earn a lot of money from it.

daily hummer infections

Apart from the money that the hackers make from the installations made by the users, the problem for the latter lies in the fact that Hummer makes a lot of data traffic to download the applications that are programmed in its source code, the researchers in computer security discovering the fact that the Trojan tried to download 200 applications after the first installation.

Basically, Hummer is a Trojan that affects millions of owners of Android terminals and has been active since mid-2015, so it generated many millions of dollars for the hackers who created it, few Android applications being able to delete it, it remaining installed even after deleting all data from the terminals.
