Google will update Android quarterly

Google will release quarterly updates for Android in an attempt to solve the biggest problem of its platform.

Google will update Android quarterly to provide users with the newest and best technologies as quickly as possible. The decision was announced last night by those from Google, it is most likely part of an attempt by the company to bring updates to users faster, forcing smartphone manufacturers to offer them more often.

One of the big problems of Android is fragmentation and the fact that Google updates do not reach Android mobile terminals quickly, the manufacturers being guilty. Mountain View is looking for ways to get its partners to update versions of their own products constantly, and these quarterly updates could help.

According to Google, one of the these updates is already in development and will be launched in the fall of this year, being only one of at least 4 prepared next year. Google did not say what exactly these quarterly updates will contain, but it is important that the strategy changes to be aligned with Apple's why.

I would like to believe that this strategy of GOogle will solve the big problem that the Android operating system has at the moment, but it is unlikely. As long as Google does not effectively force partners to provide available updates, users will remain with old versions, vulnerable to malware and without the newest available functions.

"We're moving Nougat into a new regular maintenance schedule over the coming quarters. In fact, we've already started work on the first Nougat maintenance release, which will bring continued refinements and polish, and we're planning to bring that to you this fall as a developer preview. Stay tuned!”
