Messenger Day – Facebook copies Snapchat Stories

Messenger Day is a new function of Facebook Messenger created to copy Snapchat Stories, it is offered only in Poland for now.

Facebook continues its attempts to copy Snapchat, so it now has a new application called Messenger Day in development, which contains the functions offered by the competitor's Stories function. Those from Facebook have for now launched the new function in Poland, it allows users to create stories which disappear after 24 hours.

We are talking about the possibility of publishing pictures and video clips with filters through the Messenger Day function, which can be seen by users for only 24 hours. That's how Snapchat Stories works, or the function with the same name available on the Instagram platform, so we're talking about just a new attempt to copy a successful function of a competitor.

Those at Facebook are testing Messenger Day only in the Facebook Messenger application because they do not want to launch a separate application for this functionality. For now, only those in Poland can see the new available function, so you won't see it in Romania or other regions on the planet, so there's no point in looking for it there.

According to those who have tested the function, it appears at the top of the Facebook messenger application, above the list of conversations, in a similar way to how Snapchat Stories appear in Snapchat. The creations of users appear first in the lists, while the stories of friends follow them, just like it happens on Snapchat.

Regarding the filters available for Messenger Day, we are talking about texts, emoticons, small images and pretty much everything you see in these images. Messenger Day doesn't have one for now LENS like Snapchat, but it will probably also have this function in the not too distant future.

Here's what Facebook said about the new feature: "We know that people use Messenger every day to share moments from their lives with friends and family. In Poland we are running a small test to offer new ways in which people share news from their lives visually. We have nothing else to announce now."

It is not known when this Messenger Day function will be launched globally, but if it will be successful in Poland, then we probably won't have long to wait until we can try it.
