iOS 10 - how to reduce the size of images sent in messages

iOS 10 the Apple company has implemented a very interesting function for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, allowing us to substantially reduce the internet consumption made using iMessage. More precisely, we are talking about a system that substantially reduces the size of images sent using iMessage, thus implicitly also the consumption of data traffic.

If you are used to having conversations with many people and sending many images, then this new function of iOS 10 will help you a lot to save data traffic. it is very useful only in situations where you use a cellular connection to have these conversations, in the case of Wi-Fi connections its usefulness is greatly reduced.

Reducing the quality of the images will affect everything that is visible in them, so we are talking about a situation similar to that of Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp, both of which substantially reduce the quality of the pictures sent. The same thing will be done by iMessage, but at least we will consume less internet traffic using Apple's messaging platform.

To activate this new function of iOS 10 you will have to navigate to Settings > Messages, Configurations > Messages and activate the option Low Quality Image Mode, Low quality images. If you send a lot of messages in conversations, you can even save a few hundred MB per month after activating this function, so you decide how useful it is for you.
