Apple makes the biggest investment in the history of Denmark

The data center built by Apple in Denmark represents the largest foreign investment in the history of the European country.

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), announced last year its intention to build a data center in Denmark to deliver content to European users, and that plan is now continuing. According to Denmark's foreign minister, the data center built by Apple represents the largest foreign investment in the history of his country.

The new data center will be built in the village of Foului in central Jutland, and according to the authorities, the investment amounts to no less than 950 million dollars. Tim Cook stated that the new data centers in Ireland and Denmark represent Apple's largest European investments, but the one in the second country is also the largest foreign investment locally.

The entire data center will be supported by 100% renewable energy, but Apple's plans are more ambitious, those from Cupertino concluding an agreement with a local university. Apple and Aarhus University enter into a partnership to finance a local project in the research of products based on biogas.

Apple will finance the university's project which aims to identify methods to use biogas as renewable energy for buildings in the area. Of course, the amount that Apple will invest has not been disclosed, but we are probably talking about several million euros offered by those from Cupertino for this project.

"Under the terms of the agreement, Apple will provide financial support to the university's research into biogas and how usable energy can be extracted from agriculture, whether it is fertilizer or straw supplied by local farmers."

The construction of the new data center is to begin this year, but it is not yet known when it will be completed.
