The most used applications of 2016

Those from Nielsen published today a top of the most used applications in the USA during 2016, and below you can see this top of the country. According to Nielsen, Facebook was by far the most used app of 2016, with 146 million unique users using the app in the US alone in 2016.

Compared to 2015, the number of users of the Facebook application increased by 14%, so we are talking about more people who used the application this year. After the Facebook application we find the Facebook Messenger application, which was used by 129.6 million people in 2016, the difference compared to 2015 being 28%, according to Nielsen.

In third place we find the YouTube application with 113.7 million users, Google Maps, Search, Play and GMail occupying the next 4 positions in this top. In total, Google's applications gathered over 500 million unique users in 2016, more than all the applications owned by the Facebook company and present in this top.

As far as the Apple company is concerned, the Music application from iOS, which allows access to Apple Music, was used by 68.3 million Americans in 2016. The figure is very high and exceeds what Spotify recorded in the US, and this in the conditions which Swedish company has more subscribers to its audio streaming service.

"In 2016, Facebook again took the lead as the top smartphone app. Among the top 10 smartphone apps, the apps with the highest year-over-year change were Amazon App and Instagram, with 43% and 36% growth in users from 2015, respectively."
