iPhone 8 – curved OLED screen and facial recognition

iPhone 8 will have an OLED screen curved towards the edges, a facial and gesture recognition system, plus integrated wireless charging.

iPhone 8 it will have an OLED screen curved towards the edges, according to information obtained by an American analyst thanks to Apple's Asian partners. He recently talked with several companies involved in the iPhone 8 manufacturing process and found out some of the details regarding the big launch that Apple is preparing for the fall.

Apple will release two models of the iPhone 7S, which look like the iPhone 7 but have better components, and an iPhone 8 with a modified design and an OLED screen curved towards the edges. The OLED screen of the iPhone 8 would be very similar to the one that Samsung has already implemented in the terminals of the Galaxy Edge series, so many will see a familiar design.

Although it has been repeatedly said that only the iPhone 8 will have an OLED screen, now we learn that Apple is considering the use of this type of screen in the two models of the iPhone 7S. Everything depends on Samsung's ability to produce enough screens for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7S, the possibility of this happening being quite small.

Today we learn for the first time details about the FaceTime camera and Touch ID, which will somehow be integrated into the iPhone 8 screen. The Apple company wants to completely eliminate the edges of the front panel and extend the screen over its entire surface, Apple being able to use readers of optical fingerprints, but probably also new types of front cameras.

Apart from all this, a laser sensor in the iPhone 8 would provide a gesture recognition system, but also one for facial recognition. In what form the Apple company will offer all these functions in the iPhone 8 is difficult to say, especially since so far I have not seen any other rumor suggesting their possible implementation in the terminal.

Apple is currently testing an infrared laser sensor for the iPhone 8, which will be implemented next to the front camera to provide the above functions. In what way everything will be integrated in iOS 11 we do not know yet, but probably details will be provided in the following months, before the iPhone 8 is officially launched.

We have heard about the implementation of a wireless charging system in the iPhone 8 before, various rumors confirming this for us on various occasions. Now it is possible for Apple to test this functionality with iPhone 8 prototypes without implementing it, but it remains to be seen what we will get in the fall, the new smartphone to be announced in September.
