iPhone 8 – 3D laser instead of Touch ID

iPhone 8 could have an integrated 3D laser scanner for biometric security of data stored by users.

iPhone 8 is going to have an integrated 3D laser instead of a Touch ID, the Apple company intending to completely abandon the fingerprint reader used in the current models. I told you this morning that the new 5.8-inch iPhone 8 screen will have a dedicated portion for functions that were normally done using the Home button, which will disappear together with the fingerprint reader.

In order to continue securing the iPhone 8 using biometric functions, Apple intends to implement a 3D laser scanner in the terminal. It would allow the facial recognition of users who use the iPhone 8, but it seems that Apple would like to use it including for an augmented reality system that it is developing.

A multitude of technologies would allow the implementation of a 3D laser scanner in the iPhone 8, but it is hard to say what the Apple company will choose to offer for us. A 3D laser scanner will require new space in the case, especially since Apple should implement it in the upper part, so offering it is questionable for the iPhone 8, but not impossible.

iPhone 8 – 3D laser instead of Touch ID

One of the possible uses of this 3D laser scanner for iPhone 8 is described by a technology of the PrimeSense company bought by Apple. With the help of its technology, iPhone 8 could recognize users, various surrounding objects, but also the people who are in front of this 3D laser scanner, augmented reality could have an extremely important role here.

At the moment, no one knows exactly what this 3D scanner for the iPhone 8 could be used for, so for now we are only talking about speculation. Despite this, the removal of the Home button and the lack of a fingerprint reader require the integration of a 3D laser scanner or another biometric system to secure the iPhone 8 and mobile payments.

If Apple will still implement a 3D laser scanner in the iPhone 8, then it would explain to a certain extent the high selling price that the terminal will have. The iPhone 8 would cost approximately 1000 dollars when it will be launched on global markets, so some noir technologies could substantially increase the price.
