HomePod will be released in very limited quantities

HomePod will be released in very limited quantities this winter, the smart speaker will be sold in only 500.000 units initially.

HomePod is the smart speaker that the Apple company is currently developing, announced for release in the winter of this year. December is the month in which the HomePod should arrive on the market, and according to new information that appeared today about the upcoming product, it seems that it will be available in extremely limited quantities at the time of launch, as, perhaps, it was expected.

HomePod will be available in only about 500.000 units at the time of the official launch, the Apple company going to leave some customers without the possibility to buy the product. Apple has announced since the presentation that HomePod will be available in very limited quantities from the moment of launch, so it is no mystery what will happen.

HomePod will be produced at least by those from Inventec for Apple, and according to Asian analysts, this year's production will contribute only 1% to the company's revenues. The number is insignificant at the moment, but HomePod could represent a good part of Inventec's revenues in the future, so we are talking about a long-term collaboration that will grow as the smart speaker is bought in larger quantities.

HomePod could also be produced by those from Foxconn, but for now it is not known whether from the very beginning, or somewhere during the next year. However, the HomePod launched in 500.000 units represents a rather interesting move by Apple, which seems to be not 100% sure that it can generate large revenues with the product, so it is trying to offer it in a limited series that it sells well enough.

"Inventec Appliances will likely only ship some 500,000 units of HomePod this year, and the device's contribution to the group's revenue will be less than 1%."
