Believe it or not, an Italian company with the name Steve Jobs received the right to operate and sell its products using the reputation of the former co-founder of Apple. We are talking about a company created by two Italian brothers, it produces clothing and accessories, and after 5 years of lawsuits with Apple, it managed to win the right to use the name Steve Jobs.
Apple did not trademark the name of its former co-founder, and in court it failed to prove that Steve Jobs should not be the name of a company, although morally that's how things should be. The two brothers chose the name Steve Jobs after the former co-founder of Apple died, so we are talking about an attempt to take advantage of the fame of the name to sell their products more easily.
Apple's lawyers accused in court the fact that the Italian company had a logo in which the letter J is enthroned between the words Steve and Jobs, it being partially bitten and having a leaf above it. The Apple logo has similar characteristics, but the Italian court that judged the case did not side with those from Cupertino, so it decided that the brothers can use the name to sell their products, many people being surprised by this.
"The story begins in 2012 when the two Neapolitan entrepreneurs registered the brand 'Steve Jobs' with a logo comprising a large J with a bite taken out of it. "We did our market research - the two tell us - and we noticed that Apple, one of the best known companies in the world, never thought about registering its founder's brand, so we decided to do it."
Winning the case against Apple, the two brothers registered the trademark of the logo worldwide, and the intention is to manufacture not only clothes but also electronic products in the coming years.
