Qualcomm Snapdragon X24 achieves 4G LTE speeds of 2 Gbps

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon X24, the first modem for mobile phones that is capable of offering 4G LTE speeds of up to 2 Gbps starting this year.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X24 it is the first modem in the world that is capable of reaching speeds of up to 2 Gbps for users who will have the opportunity to use it in phones. We are talking about a modem that Qualcomm has just announced, it is still in the development process with a view to launch, but its performance is worthy of all the praise.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X24 promises to offer mobile internet speeds of up to 2 Gbps through 4G LTE networks, so not through 5G, and this is a great technological advance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X24 is produced using a 7nm manufacturing process, the Qualcomm company also announcing this achievement as a major advance compared to current modems.

Qualcomm is not, however, the only manufacturer that has high-speed modems, those from Intel also announcing a modem that can reach speeds of up to 1.6 Gbps. The difference is small between the two types of modems, if we look at the speeds they offer, and customers will feel even less of them, because they will never use them at their maximum capacity.

"The plan for smartphones is that you'll have an SOC with an integrated gigabit LTE modem, and the 5G subsystem which includes the 5G modem will exist alongside it on the board. I would say that's in a 5-inch or 5.5-inch class device. The footprint of the chips is pretty small."

Qualcomm develops these modems because its strategy for the future is to launch Snapdragon chips that have an integrated 4G LTE modem and a 5G one implemented separately in phones. Basically, Qualcomm wants to offer customers the opportunity to use 4G LTE and 5G networks with separate modems, they being small enough to be integrated together in phones.
