In the October-December period, Orange Romania achieved a turnover of 280 million euros, up 7.7% compared to the same period last year. The total turnover for 2017 is 1,07 billion euros. The growth was mainly supported by the positive evolution of mobile data usage, fixed-mobile packages and mobile equipment sales. On December 31, 2017, Orange Romania offered mobile, landline and TV services to 10.623.000 customers.

"2017 was a year in which the digitization process accelerated, evidenced by the growing consumption of mobile data and connected products, both for the residential and business environments. Our customers want simplicity - in the offers, but also in the interaction with Orange, and the fixed-mobile Orange Love packages answered this requirement. Equally, B2B customers have sought to simplify and streamline operations by choosing integrated solutions that include both connectivity and IT&C solutions in the area of cloud, business Wi-Fi and cyber security. The performance in 2017 is the result of two constants – relevant offers built together with customers and their trust in the quality of services offered through the most extensive 4G network in Romania." said Liudmila Climoc, Chief Executive Officer in Orange Romania.

Uninterrupted connectivity

At the end of December, the 4G network covered 93.2% of the country's population, i.e. 10.026 localities, where 3,2 million Orange customers used Orange 4G services, almost 50% more compared to the end of 2016. This evolution was also found in data traffic mobile which increased by more than 80% compared to Q4 2016 and in 4G which increased by 3 times.

These results were also influenced by sales of 4G feature phones which increased by 14% in Q4 2017 compared to Q4 2016. Sales of connected devices (smartwatches, fitness bracelets, robots, children's watches, VR glasses, gaming consoles, smart TV) increased 6 times in the last quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2016, Orange Romania registering almost 80 references for this product category. We also observe an accelerated trend in connected objects for the home, where the increase compared to the 4th quarter of the previous year is 5 times higher.

As a result of the expansion of the 4G network and the accessibility of high-performance phones, more than 720.000 Orange customers chose to use the 4G Call in 2017 and thus benefit from the superior quality of the service, increasing 5 times compared to December 2016.
