Android users are more loyal than iOS users

Android users are more loyal than those of mobile terminals with the iOS operating system, according to a new study published today.

Android Loyal iOS 2018

users Android they are more loyal than yours iOS, a new study done by a company called CIRP confirming what many in Cupertino feared they would find out at some point. Starting with 2014, the loyalty of iOS users began to decrease significantly, so that in 2018 it was lower than that recorded among Android users, the difference between them being approximately 6 percentage points at this moment.

Loyalty is measured among users who buy new mobile terminals and activate them with the same operating system used in the terminal left behind, and the study shows that iOS is starting to lag behind. Although the image below shows a different story, CIRP claims that in the case of iOS the loyalty rate would be 85-88%, while in the case of Android it would be 89%-91%, so the difference could be smaller than it seems, but Android still wins.

Loyalty is also as high as we've ever seen, really from 85-90% at any given point. With only two mobile operating systems at this point, it appears users now pick one, learn it, invest in apps and storage, and stick with it. Now, Apple and Google need to figure out how to sell products and services to these loyal customer bases.

CIRP claims that the success of the Android platform is based on the varied range of mobile phones that users have in front of them when they want to buy a new phone, being able to try something different, without changing the operating system. To be completely honest, the results are surprising, but considering that the data has been monitored for several years, perhaps it is not a surprise, considering the lack of major changes for the iPhone.

We know Android has a larger base of users than iOS, and because of that larger base, the absolute number of users that switch to iOS from Android is as large or larger than the absolute number of users that switch to Android from iOS. Looking at the absolute number of users in this way tends to support claims that iOS gains more former Android users, than Android does former iOS users.

The study had a user base of 500 people, so look at the representativeness as you wish, but it is clear that Apple has a major problem that it must solve as soon as possible. It is clear that the world wants something different, and although Apple attracts a number of Android users to the iPhone and iPad, it seems that it still has a lot to implement in its products to be able to differentiate itself from the Asian manufacturers.
