CarPlay and Android Auto: Increased Importance for New Car Buyers

CarPlay and Android Auto matter more and more for those who buy a new car, the systems being very popular among drivers in 2018.

CarPlay Android Auto Increased Importance New Cars

C si Android Auto they have an increasing importance in the decision to buy a car, and buyers look very carefully at the technology offered by the car they will use. A new study claims that 34% of those who have CarPlay in their car use Apple software for all the infotainment functions that the car can offer.

In the case of Android Auto, the percentage drops to 27%, but even so we are talking about a very large number of drivers who use these systems specially created for interconnection with their cars. 32% of those who have CarPlay in their car use Apple Maps for navigation instead of the car's standard system, in the case of Android Auto the percentage increases to 33%, thanks to Google Maps.

Although there is no clear correlation between use and CarPlay, or Android Auto, the study claims that people would choose these systems thanks to the fluidity of the interface and the better user experience. Moreover, the possibility to use Siri and Google Assistant much more easily plays a very important role for drivers, so the free implementation of systems in cars should be a priority for many.

"These consumers are showing lofty levels of satisfaction and are highly likely to recommend these systems to others. The most impressive finding is how many respondents would now be somewhat or very unlikely to consider a future vehicle without CarPlay or Android Auto. Typically we find that infotainment is far down the list of vehicle purchase priorities, but it appears that mirroring solutions could be changing this."

Although Android Auto and CarPlay are very useful, not all manufacturers offer them, and in the case of BMW, a monthly subscription must be paid to use Apple's software. Probably in the future including those from BMW will understand that they must step into the digital age and not stupidly ask for money for software that should be offered for free, but until then there is no other solution.
