Facebook. The American company announced today new very important changes for the News Feed, the main source for viewing posts made in the social network by users. To begin with, Facebook announced a new feature called "Why am I seeing this post?", with the aim of telling people why they see certain posts in the News Feed, whether they come from their own friends, from other people, or pages, from the social network.
Facebook. Moreover, users have more control over the posts they see within the social network, this being the first time that News Feed has offered explanations regarding the algorithm based on which the posts are displayed. Facebook says it wants to be more transparent, by implementing functions of this kind, and users can see this information through the menu accessible through a button displayed in the upper right of the posts in the News Feed.
Facebook. News Feed is experiencing MAJOR CHANGES
Facebook. Practically, now the company will tell us that if we are part of a group on the network, or of a page, we will see content from there more often, but we will also have the possibility to choose not to see it. Facebook is also implementing new options to customize the experience we have when reading News Feed posts, to choose what we see with priority what we follow, plus other preferences for the company's algorithm.
We're introducing "Why am I seeing this post?" to help you better understand and more easily control what you see from friends, Pages and Groups in your News Feed. This is the first time that we've built information on how ranking works directly into the app. This means you'll be able to tap on posts and ads in News Feed, get context on why they're appearing, and take action to further personalize what you see.
Facebook. In testing this change, the company discovered that people are very interested in being able to customize their experience of viewing posts in the News Feed, which would have motivated it to offer the functions. Apart from this function for the News Feed, those from Facebook are also updating the "Why am I seeing this ad?" functionality. to help users get rid of the ads they are not interested in, but not completely from those that are shown to them throughout the social network.
Facebook. This very important change for the News Feed is implemented starting today for all users, but it is not known how long it will actually take to spread to everyone.
