Samsung has officially announced that it is working on future technologies for mobile networks even before the 5G revolution begins worldwide, with Koreans already thinking about 6G. Those from Samsung have expanded the team of engineers who develop future 6G technologies for telecommunications networks, but of course the launch of this technology is still very far away, probably 1 decade away.
Samsung it is not currently one of the largest manufacturers of telecommunications equipment, but considering the recent problems of those from Huawei, its ambitions have become much more interesting. Samsung sees a very big opportunity to steal sales from the Chinese for its telecommunications equipment, and the start of the development of 6G technologies shows very clearly that it wants to become an important supplier for operators.
Samsung is working on 6G before the launch of 5G
Samsung will most likely want to go along the same lines as those announced by projects for the development of 6G networks, which are surprisingly ambitious compared to what we have now. In Finland there is a project to develop 6G technologies that aim to bring speeds of up to 1 TB to mobile phone users, and Samsung will probably want to have similar results with their technologies.
Samsung Electronics said Tuesday it has embarked on initial research on the sixth-generation telecommunications network by launching a new research center. Samsung recently formed the Advanced Communications Research Center under Samsung Research, the company's main R&D organization, based in southern Seoul.
Samsung it will try to make the jump from the 1 Gbps speeds now offered by most 5G networks to a speed 1000 times higher, which seems almost impossible to achieve now. Of course, a lot of investment is needed for this company, or other companies that produce smartphones, or telecommunications equipment to reach such speeds for 6G, but in 10 years maybe anything will be possible for customers.
What do you think about Samsung's ambitions regarding 6G, and what chances do you think it will be able to develop such technologies for customers all over the world.
