Facebook announced that it is preparing new applications like we have never seen before, which will offer experiences that we have not had until now, and all under a brand different from its own, it is easy to understand why. NPE, or New Product Experimentation, is the name of the team within Facebook that will develop these new applications and experiences, they will be created especially for communities around the world, even outside the platform.
Facebook claims that this new tactic for its applications will aim to create ones that generate interest among local communities that will bring new people to the platform, or bring others back. The functions implemented in these separate applications could end up including in the main application of the Facebook company, but everything depends on their popularity and usefulness among the communities in which they are launched.
Facebook will LAUNCH Applications like YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN before
Facebook claims that this special group of employees will act much faster in the development of applications, and will withdraw those that are not successful much faster, expecting many failures over time. NPE will launch the applications under its own brand in the App Store or Google Play, but with the mention that they are made by a company owned by Facebook, and that way people will be attracted to use them on their phones.
"In the coming weeks, Facebook will begin to launch new consumer-focused apps under the developer name "NPE Team, from Facebook." NPE Team apps will be aligned with Facebook's mission of giving people the power to build community but will focus on shipping entirely new experiences. We decided to use this separate brand name to help set the appropriate expectations with users that NPE Team apps will change very rapidly and will be shut down if we learn that they're not useful to people."
Facebook he did not reveal what kind of experiences these new applications for mobile phones are going to bring, but over time we have seen many experimental applications from the company, which were not successful. Moving the development to a separate company is meant to take some attention away from what Facebook is doing, and to keep failures away from its reputation, although this probably won't happen.
Facebook he did not say exactly when the first applications created by the NPE will be launched, but it is possible that the wait will not be as long as many people imagine.
