RCS & RDS, Orange, Telekom, Vodafone, are at the center of an extremely important reconfiguration for the Romanian market, and this is because three of the operators are going to make a series of important transactions. More precisely, we already know that Orange buys the fixed services division from Telekom, but also that RCS & RDS is very interested in buying the mobile phone infrastructure and radio licenses, leaving behind the millions of customers of the German group.
RCS & RDS and Orange will benefit greatly from these acquisitions, strengthening their positions on the Romanian market, as Vodafone did by buying UPC during this year. At the moment, Vodafone has a very good fixed and mobile infrastructure, while Orange will have it only after completing the acquisition of the Telekom division, and those from RCS & RDS have very big problems with mobile telephony.

RCS & RDS will remain at the greatest disadvantage among all the large operators remaining in Romania, because it will not have good infrastructure both on the fixed and mobile services side, but only for the first of them. Vodafone has strengthened strongly, Orange will do so very soon, and RCS & RDS is probably now trying to find a solution to buy from Telekom what it lacks in order to remain competitive on the Romanian market.
RCS & RDS will have great difficulties in competing with Vodafone and Orange also on the fixed services side, where it is the undisputed leader, if the big operators make even better offers for existing customers. Having their own strong fixed divisions, Vodafone and Orange will be able to make much better offers than until now, and RCS & RDS will have to become much more inventive in order to keep their customers who could benefit from better prices elsewhere.
RCS & RDS, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom will have a very interesting autumn, and millions of customers will be affected by what will happen in the coming months in Romania.
