CAREFUL! The Romanian Police has started the HUNT for Drivers with Phones

The Romanian Police has started hunting drivers who keep their phones in their hands at the wheel, and has already started issuing a lot of very large fines.

Romanian Police HUNTING Phone Drivers

Romanian police did not wait too long after the entry into force of the changes by which it is forbidden to hold mobile phones while driving, or to use them in the car holder while driving, and started giving fines. In Bucharest alone, the Road Brigade of the Romanian Police applied several dozen fines in the first part of the day based on the new regulations of the Highway Code, totaling several tens of thousands of LEI.

The Romanian Police no longer gives warnings about holding the phone in hand while driving, so they hunt down all the drivers who violate the new provisions until everyone knows about the danger they are exposing themselves to. The fines for holding or using the phone at the wheel have doubled for drivers, and the Romanian Police sanctions all drivers who are caught in traffic for breaking this rule, so you have to be very careful.

The biggest problem with this situation lies in the fact that now the Romanian Police can suspend the licenses of drivers who are holding their phones while driving, so you have to be very careful here. A simple change of lane without signaling can result in the suspension of your license, just like not giving priority, blocking the intersection, or even exceeding the legal speed by 10 KM/h, all these things being "common" in Bucharest, or other big cities.

The Romanian police will now be much more willing to apply fines, because if in the case of these contraventions they had to "beat their head" with a banal fine, now they can also suspend their cards, so they will be more willing to do their job. Those from the Romanian Police have made for all Romanians a list of some of the contraventions in the Highway Code that can bring you the lighter suspension of yesterday's license, and they are:

  • "exceeding by 10-20 km/ha the maximum speed allowed on the respective road sector for the category of which the driven vehicle belongs, ascertained, according to the law, with homologated and metrologically verified technical means;
  • driving on a road sector where access is prohibited;
  • non-compliance with the obligation to use the meeting lights during the day or the lights for daytime traffic, on highways, expressways and on European national roads (E);
  • exceeding by 21-30 km/ha the maximum speed allowed on the respective road sector for the category of which the driven vehicle belongs, ascertained, according to the law, with homologated and metrologically verified technical means;
  • failure to comply with the rules regarding the turning maneuver, going backwards, changing the traffic lane or the direction of travel, if this resulted in an accident resulting in damage to a vehicle or other material damage;
  • failure to keep an appropriate distance from the vehicle in front, if this resulted in an accident resulting in damage to a vehicle or other material damage;
  • entering an intersection when traffic inside it is blocked;
  • not granting the priority of passage to pedestrians engaged in the regular crossing of the public road through the specially arranged and signposted places, located in the direction of movement of the motor vehicle, the agricultural or forestry tractor or the tram;
  • non-compliance with overtaking rules;
  • exceeding by 31-40 km/ha the maximum speed allowed on the respective road sector for the category of which the driven vehicle belongs, ascertained, according to the law, with homologated and metrologically verified technical means;
  • traffic in the opposite direction, except in cases where the overtaking maneuver is carried out according to regulations;
  • exceeding by 41-50 km/ha the maximum speed allowed on the respective road sector for the category of which the driven vehicle belongs, ascertained, according to the law, with homologated and metrologically verified technical means;
  • not stopping at the level crossing with the railway when the barriers or semi-barriers are lowered or in the process of being lowered or when the signals with red lights and/or sounds are in operation;
  • exceeding by more than 50 km/h the maximum speed allowed on the respective road sector and for the category of which the driven vehicle belongs, ascertained, according to the law, with homologated and metrologically verified technical means."

  1. You have 15 days to appeal
    Simple, that's in case you were innocent...or out of laziness you preferred it that way and it's easier to complain and do nothing

  2. The Romanian police can fine you whenever they want for using the phone while driving, you never being able to prove that you didn't use the phone while driving. Before showing their intention to issue fines on the conveyor belt, the Romanian police must make sure that their employees with badges do not abuse! Many people are hurting somewhere and are abusing it. (I personally argued with the militiaman for 5 minutes just because I took the iqos battery in my hand while driving and he saw my phone and gave me a fine??‍♂️.
