Orange is AMAZINGLY POWERFUL, Here's How Romania CONTROLS it

Orange is the largest telecommunications group in Romania, and today we also officially find out how big the company is in relation to the competition.

Strong Orange controls Romania

Orange is the biggest mobile phone operator in Romania, or at least that's what ANCOM tells us with a series of information published these days regarding the state of the telecommunications world. Orange would currently have a market share of 39% in Romania in terms of telecommunications services, being the undisputed leader in our country, and not for a short time, but for several years, without the group being surpassed by someone else.

Orange boasts a base of about 10.5 million customers at the moment, but of course not all of them use its mobile telephony services, but more than three quarters do, and this has brought it this large market share. Next come those from Vodafone, who managed to collect only 30% of the market share in Romania, being 9 percentage points behind those from Orange, and this although the prices and the quality of the services offered are very similar.

Orange is AMAZINGLY POWERFUL, Here's How it CONTROLS Romania

Orange is far ahead of Telekom, having a double market share, but this is normal since the German group has lost several million customers in recent years, only 500.000 between 2018 and 2019. Regarding the difference between Orange and Digi Mobil, this cannot even be calculated because ANCOM included the RCS & RDS operator in a list of other operators that have market shares lower than 18% at the moment.

"Depending on the number of active SIM cards at the end of June this year, Orange had a market share of 39%, Vodafone 30%, Telekom Group 18%, the other providers totaling 14%. In the first half of this year, there were 22,3 million active mobile users (-1,6%), of which 9,7 million were individuals on a subscription basis, 3 million were legal entities on a subscription basis and 9,5 million (-4,5%) users based on active prepaid cards.”

Orange has made very large investments in Romania in recent years, and the result can be seen in the large number of customers that the mobile operator currently has in our country. Orange is going to become even bigger, and this is because it wants to buy the fixed services division of Telekom, together with all the customers, so about 4.6 million more customers.

Orange will not add them to the group of customers for mobile phone services, but even so, it will become the largest telecommunications operator in the country in other segments as well, except for the Internet, where RCS & RDS controls everything.
