ANAF: Digitization with MASSIVE LAYOFFS, Taxes Paid by Phone

ANAF has announced an accelerated digitization process by the Minister of Finance, but this will also bring massive closures for the fiscal institution.

ANAF Digitization LAYOFFS

swirl will go through a massive reform in the next 6 months that aims to digitize the institution in order to eliminate tax evasion, but also to simplify the interaction of citizens with such an important institution. The Minister of Finance, Florin Cîțu, announced that the digitalization process of ANAF will begin as soon as possible, but that this procedure will lead to the abolition of 2150 positions, thus the dismissal of many people from the institution.

ANAF will probably be digitized, following a model that was applied in Poland, the minister mentioning to Realitatea Plus the fact that he discussed with a former finance minister from there about a similar reform made in 6 months. In Romania, we want something similar, for ANAF to enter the digital era in the shortest possible time and to reach the situation where Romanians can access their information on the phone, probably even pay their taxes.

ANAF: Digitization with MASSIVE LAYOFFS, Taxes Paid by Phone

ANAF will be reorganized to be more efficient, and computerization will be accelerated in order to be achieved as quickly as possible, but of course it is impossible to prepare the entire platform in just 6 months. Even if the Minister of Finance has big plans, it is hard for me to believe that such a complex IT platform will be ready for launch in 6 months, ANAF having announced digitization processes several times, which of course have failed each time.

"I want us to make it so simple, to be applications on the phone in the relationship with ANAF and with a single click online to see your tax file, legal person or natural person. I spoke with my colleagues in Poland, a former colleague from the banking system, he was also the Minister of Finance in Poland, and he told me that they managed to do this in six months. So it is possible."

ANAF still needs an entry into the digital age, at least in relation to the citizens, who have difficulties in finding out information about the taxes they have to pay, but also in actually paying the taxes due. ANAF is an institution that undergoes changes with each separate government that comes, but maybe this time the good things that everyone is waiting for will be done, digitalization being desired by all Romanians for several years.

ANAF will in the next period reveal the clear plans regarding digitization and the positions that will be abolished, so we will find out what will happen within this institution of great importance for Romania.
