Ludovic Orban, the Prime Minister of Romania, had a new meeting today at the Victoria Palace with Telekom representatives to discuss again the sale of the fixed services division to Orange Romania. The Minister of Transport and Communications, Lucian Bode, participated in this meeting again, just as in the case of the previous meeting, but this time both had an analysis made at the ministry regarding the approval of this major transaction.

Lucian Bode states the other day that he received from the employees of the ministry an analysis regarding the impact of the transaction, but also the options of the Romanian Government in this situation, he having the possibility to buy Telekom shares. It is very improbable that this will happen, and Ludovic Orban probably discussed again with those from Telekom to receive possible clarifications before allowing the transaction with Orange to take place, now having the impact analysis.

Ludovic Orban: Another meeting with Telekom regarding the SALE of Orange

Ludovic Orban met at the end of 2019, including with representatives from Orange, to discuss the purchase of Telekom's fixed services division, but no details from these meetings have been found so far. Even after today's meeting, it is not known whether Ludovic Orban will approve the transaction that Telekom and Orange want to do, especially since there remains the fixed division for which there is currently no buyer, RCS & RDS being interested in it, but without customers .

Ludovic Orban could allow the sale of Telekom's fixed services division to Orange if the companies' plans do not in any way affect customers, but also if the change does not in any way affect national security. Even if the Government of Romania approves this transaction, it will most likely require an approval from the European Commission for it since it is about a transfer of millions of customers and strategically important infrastructure.

Telekom and Orange have agreed on the transaction since August/September 2019, but they may have to wait many more months before they can sign the documents to complete the transaction.
